Snowman Wood Stackers

This year I participated in Craftaholics Anonymous handmade gift exchange.
I was pretty nervous, not knowing what in the heck I was going to make!
I was trying to decide if I should make seasonal Christmas, or something to match my partners' home decor.  Yeah, Christmas won out.  'Cause if she really hated it maybe she would still put it out at least once a year!
*WINK*
I decided on some wood stackers. Then I had to choose what kind of paper to use, her home decor is cottage style with blues. So I chose a snowman paper from Micheals.
Then of coarse,  I had to have a fun saying...I didn't want to do the usual...
"LET IT SNOW" {not because I don't like it, I do...}I just wanted something different.
Google to the rescue!
Seriously Google is my freakin' hero!
I typed in Snowman Sayings.  They had so many to choose from.
I liked this one best though.

"A Snowman is love and laughter all rolled into one"
Cute?
I think yes!

And this is how it turned out!

Want to know how I did them?

Here's what you need to make your own:

-3 pieces of wood (Lowes can cut them for you if you need them to!)
-Mod Podge/Brush
-1 Piece of 12X12 Scrapbook Paper
-Stain/Brush or Rag
-Paint/Brush
-Sandpaper
-Vinyl or Stickers
-Tulle bow (optional)

I cut three pieces of wood in these sizes:1 1/2" X   8",10",12" I painted the wood with off-white paint, mod podged the paper onto the fronts, sanded the edges,  stained the edges with minwax walnut color, then cut my vinyl using the font Pea Sarah Cute. Stuck it on and then did another thin coat of Mod Podge.
Then I tied a tulle bow around the stackers to hold them together.
So she can keep it on, or take it off and "off set"  the blocks if she wants!

I hope she likes them!  Would you?
Have a great day!

Santa Claus is Comin' to Town

Have you all seen those cute little card stock, plastic, filled with chocolate Christmas calendars?  I remember when my Grandma bought my Princess her first one when she was little.
I bought them up until...Well...last year...
Then In enrichment we made these really cute muffin tin countdowns found at Your Creative Juices
Tami is so adorable!  She was over the Enrichment in our ward.
She and her sisters have an AMAZING BLOG!
Anyway,
this summer I was browsing around the DI (my local thrift Store) and I came across a brand new bag filled with cute little tins for $2.00.
I starred at them for a minute and then stuffed them into my cart, I was walking around with them wondering what I would do with these...I just knew I could find a use for these cuties!
Then it hit me.... When my love for blogs started last year around this time, I saw so many cute Christmas countdowns that I fell in love with and the one I liked the most were ones with little jars or tins attached to a board or pizza pan.
So, the idea was born and this is what these were going to be used for!
I wanted it to resemble a tree.
I saw this idea on a blog last year, I wish I knew where so I could give them the proper credit!

This is how I made mine!

I used:
-Glue Gun
-Metal Tins
-1 sheet green scrapbook paper
-1/4 sheet brown scrapbook paper
-White Paint/Brush
-Wood/board
-Sandpaper
-Black Vinyl
-Embellishments
-Treat
-Papers with activities typed on it

1. SEE!  Isn't his the perfect sized little tin!
2. I used my 1 1/2 circle punch to cut out the 24 circles to fit on the top of the tins!
3. Cut four BROWN circles for the trunk
4. Cut 20 GREEN circles for the tree
5. All ready to glue together!
6. Make a "squiggly" line with your hot glue on top of the lids
7. Place the green/brown circle on it.
8. Fill your tin with a treat
9. In some I put a little note with fun things we will do this month!
10. Cut out the numbers and place them on top of the colored circles
11. Embellish the way you want
12. CUTE!

Here's the link to the  Numbers. The font I used for the vinyl was Elise.    I layed the tins out in a tree shape and measured it to see how big of a frame I would need.   It was 24 X 18.    So I headed to the thrift store  they didn't have a frame, but I found this piece of wood that had a painting on it.
It  worked..so I just painted over it and sanded the edges.

I know, check out the #14...crooked..but, the great thing is, all I have to do is turn the lid!

I pretty much used any tiny cute thing I could find to embellish it!
I used Dice,Ribbon, lace,Pearls, Beads,jute,lace,tiny clothes pin

Stones,Staples,Other Scrapbook Paper, Torn Paper...Music Sheets..you can use anything you want!
After I cut out each of the number circles, I used a tiny bit of distress ink on edges.

I filled the tins with Ande' mint chocolates and the little things to do this month. like...Watch Frosty together,Rudolph, Read the Night Before Christmas, Go look at Christmas lights...AND Christmas Village, Read Snowmen at night,
Have you ever read those? SUPER CUTE! K I have to go find the link...
THERE....
Snowmen at Night I hooked you up!
I promise!  You will love it!

Let the countdown to SANTA begin!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I am so thankful.... I am especially thankful for my family and the love that fills our home!
I have been blessed in my life!
I have a AMAZING husband who works so hard and lets me follow my dreams!
A beautiful girlie who is 11 going on 16 and challenges me on everything, but she has a big heart, and an amazingly beautiful spirit! I completely adore her! My sweet angel boy Garett taught me so much in his short 15 mos.with us. My angel boy Morgan also taught me to have faith and endure.
Throughout our "trials" I know that my Heavenly Father has blessed me with such wonderful friends and family.
I am so thankful for each one of them!
My parents are my  friends now that I am older...
{funny how that happens!}
My sister is absolutely amazing!  I LOVE this girlie.  When we were little we were inseperateable. She is not only beautiful inside, she is on the outside too!
My brothers are pretty darn amazing too...
One of them has a beautiful voice. He entertains on cruise ships, he is the "life of the party" so witty and fun he can ALWAYS make you laugh!
My other brother is a RN working to be a nurse practitioner he works at a local hospital..he's got a gruffy exterior but, is the biggest teddy bear, he would give you the shirt off his back!
See, told you.... pretty AMAZING!
Even though we aren't all together for Thanksgiving...just knowing they are MY family and that we are there for eachother is comforting.
Mom,Dad,Neatsy,Joey,MiltDoug,Pat,Dave,Chris,Jared,Min,Ken,Cort,Molly, Sarah,Craig, Stu, and of course all my AWESOME nieces and nephews,,,

Thank you for being a part of my life and I love you all!
I am thankful for each one of you, for reading my lil'ole'blog and sharing your life with me!

I hope that you all enjoy the time with your family and have a...

Ornament Wreath

I really wanted a stunning wreath...like a "Wow, where did you get that?" kind..
Last year, as I was looking through blogs, I was so inspired by this one!

Isn't this a beauty? Like really B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L.
I fell in love...like triple... dipple... quadripple love!
I saw how easy and stunning this was and I was so excited to make one of my own.

 So I did...
Only in "My" colors...
{Although I still quadripple heart Eddie Ross' wreath!}

Another look at mine...
I chose to use Green,Lime Green,Red,Glitter Red, Red/White Glitter,silver etc.

Here's what I used:

-10 10 pkg. ornaments
-2 6 pkg. ornaments
-Glue gun
-Ribbon
-Wire Hanger

Bend your wire into a circle shape. Start by gluing the tops of the ornaments onto the top of the ornament because when you began to "string" them onto the wire, they might pop off!
Start putting the ornaments onto the wire.
You will want different sizes so that you can fill in the gaps.
You will probably have to glue some of them together too so they will stay where you want them to!
I wrapped some ribbon around the top of the wreath, then glued the bow onto the ribbon.
  That's it!
Super easy...super cute!
It matches my decor and that's what I love... and the best part...all dollar store ornaments.
So not too bad!

O' Christmas Tree!

Christmas Decor is up and I'm loving it!
This is my most favorite time of year! REALLY!
The Music on the radio...the colored lights...the snow....the magical feeling...Love it all! As a little girl I was always asking my mom when we were going to "put up Christmas"
My Pretty Princess is the same way, it's so funny because this kiddo would rather help decorate than hangout with her friends.

It's all done!

You want to see?

Sorry about the pictures being a little blurry...I am so not a good picture taker!
These trees are in a family room year round, I decorate them for each season!  The colors on this tree are white, red, lime green!  Love these!
I picked them up at Costco a few years ago!

This cute little deer I picked up at the thrift store with a matching one that lays down. Both for $2.00!  They were gold...I painted them white and am looking for the perfect ribbon to put around their necks.
What do you think ribbon or no ribbon?
The cute "Season of Peace" plate I also got at the thrift store...$1.50!

The top of the mantel and stockings.  I love the "old" feel of the furry stockings...
and how they are bright red with white!

When Jeremy and I were in the nursery in our ward,  MANY years ago! A sweet little girl gave us this little Gingerbread Man and I think it is just too cute! It sits on the kitchen counter.  Along with the jar I picked up at the thrift store for $.75.  It already had the vinyl snowflakes on it! I
just filled it  with Christmas candy corn and tied on the cute ribbon. (The candy corn is from last year..not good to eat!)
My Pedestal Canisters filled with filler from the dollar store.  I decided after gaining 5 lbs. NO Christmas candy corn..I needed something not edible! I'm trying to decide if I want to add some tags or wood letters to these...

Corner Hutch in the kitchen....that I really want to repaint...with cute snowmen on it!

Snowmen in the little office!

Colorful lights in the Loft!  Old Patchwork Christmas Angels and raffia...
This is for the Hubby~
we have had these decorations for 12 years and he {hearts} them...

Garland and ornaments with Gingerbread Men and Women on the banister

I had a bunch of cinnamon pine cones so we filled a basket, added some lights and I made the little Believe in the Magic block ...I'll tell you how I did that....later.

I love this BELIEVE sign!  It is metal and I picked it up at Ross for $3.99 a few years ago!

This is what is on my front porch!   I got the ladder for a estate sale, the wooden snowman from my mom...the rest is from the dollar store or thrift store.

I planned on painting this ladder white and staining it around the edges....next year....
I really like how things have turned out!  I didn't show you my wreaths...I'll post about those tomorrow!
So there you have it...the Giles' decor!

Do you decorate for Christmas BEFORE Thanksgiving...or do you wait until AFTER?

GravyMaster

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of GravyMaster for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

GM_Bottle.jpg

What do you think?

Does GravyMaster sound like it is just for making gravy?

  Well, guess what? it isn't!

Gravy Master can be used to caramelize food and add flavor.

Use it to lock in the flavors of  grilled meats. fish and veggies.

Use it as an addition to marinades and other sauces

At Master the meal   you will find some

yummy recipes! I spent a little while browsing at the recipes they share over there!

How about some cashew chicken with noodles, or orange chicken AND of coarse the  easy gravy recipes!

YUM!

The great thing is you can add gravy master to foods that you use everyday!

Now with the holidays coming up, you can use it on the ham you may be planning to make or the

turkey!  Spruce up your ham with some of GravyMaster  they make it easy!

Oh, and  they have a great ham recipe. too!

Now....My family loves Thanksgiving and we eat turkey!

{We save the ham for Christmas!}

We love potatoes and gravy.

{Yes, you HAVE to have the gravy!}

So why not try this simple and yummy stuff!

I would love to know what you all would make with gravymaster

HO HO HO!

Thursday means a tutorial...
Do you guys want to make a  super simple and super cute
neighbor gift {or you can keep it}
Something that takes like two minutes or less?
Are you thinking...
"Come on, Really?"
YES REALLY! Promise! I got ya covered!

See that cute little dish of candy?
It's pretty darn cute and easy peasy!

All you need is:

-M&M's
-Glass dish from the dollar store
-stickers or vinyl

K, so I just have to tell you that when I couldn't resist on getting the Christmas peanut M&M's...
{yes, they HAVE to be peanut}
I didn't realize how seriously small the regular sized packages are. I swear those things used to be bigger. They didn't even fill the jar, and for almost $3.00 a bag
uh....I wanted more than that!!!!
Jeesh!
I'm done complaining now...we can move on!

Cut your vinyl, I used the font Pea Amanda and Kevin Funky font for the HO HO HO. But if you don't have a silhouette, you can just get some fun stickers. Arrange the words how you want them, fill the dish with candy!

Yep, you are all done!

Now if you want to go a step further, you can put it in a cellophane bag and use some tulle to make a cute bow and you're done!

I know, It looks like I've been eating all of them...Promise I only had 3...I think...

Cute and easy! My Favorite!
Have a great day!
